Exposing the ugly truth about the Republican Party's diabolical plot to replace constitutional democracy with an oligarchic fascist theocracy... It's the only rational explanation! |

Why does the Republican Party zealously pursue policies so obviously counter to the
best interests of ordinary Americans? It can only be because they're... |

Hall of Shame Evil GOP Bastard of the Month |
Katherine Harris Former Florida Secretary of State & Congressional Candidate Sanctimoniously hailing the "rule of law" while doing everything in her |
Since the New Deal, Republicans have been on the wrong side of every issue of concern
to ordinary Americans; Social Security, the war in Vietnam, equal rights,
civil liberties, church- state separation, consumer issues, public education, reproductive
freedom, national health care, labor issues, gun policy, campaign-finance
reform, the environment and tax fairness. No political party could remain so consistently wrong by accident. The only rational conclusion is that, despite their cynical "family values" propaganda, the Republican Party is a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people in favor of oligarchic and corporate interests and absolutist religious groups. |
Why? Because they're evil GOP bastards! |

power to disqualify black voters and to prevent an accurate handcount in the 2000
election, Harris embodies the GOP "win at any cost" ethos. Let's hope Florida
voters derail her ambition to be elected to the House of Representatives
this fall. |

Since our "Ready..fire..aim" commentary on the hysterical rush to war with Iraq
began, several GOP luminaries, including Vietnam veteran Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb),
Bush I national security advisor and former general Brent Scowcroft, former
Bush I Secretaries of State Lawrence Eagleberger and James Baker, American UN arms inspector Scott Ridder, and current mideast envoy and retired general Anthony Zinni have publicly broken ranks with the Bush II administration's Iraq policy. Even House GOP troglodyte Dick
Armey, in a rare moment of lame-duck lucidity and candor, has spoken out against
the Bush II Iraqi war plan. The Democrats, with rare except- ions, seem content with sitting on the sidelines of this debate, ap- parently enjoying the spectacle of Rush Limbaugh roasting Repub- licans who deviate from GOP groupthink. Bush seems to relish his role as a "war leader" just a bit too much. Since he can't quite seem to locate evildoer numero uno, Osama bin Laden, it's as if he's desperate to finger a new enemy to bomb. Is Karl Rove now in charge of national security and foreign policy? How long until Colin Powell resigns in frustration and disgust? To reiterate: Iraq is a stable, secular state ruled by a dictator motivated by realpolitik -- rational territorial and political ambitions. Even if Iraq develops nuclear weapons, the threat of instant nuclear retaliation would deter their use. If the Bush administration really wants to deter nuclear prolifera- tion, it'll reverse its idiotic cuts in appropriations to secure Russian nukes. Why can't the Bush chickenhawks understand that our real enemy is Islamist jihad? Unlike the Iraqis, whose primary motivation is survival, the fanatic jihadists are willing to sacrifice their lives (along with the lives of non-combatant elderly, women and children) just for the satisfaction of killing Americans. Is Bush so desperate for a war to boost his flagging political pop- ularity that he's willing to need- lessly endanger US servicemen and women's lives, alienate our allies in the war on terror, and enflame the Muslim world? Saddam is smart enough to learn from Gulf War I and the easy route of the Taliban. This time, Saddam will concentrate his forces in Iraqi cities where our air power will be neutralized, unless Bush is willing to "save the village by destroying it." The Bush administration's much- too-publicized plan for "regime change" in Iraq is a formula guaranteed to promote virulent anti-American hatred in the Arab world, creating new cadres of eager recruits for Al Queda. War with Iraq will have disastrous consequences for our legitimate war on terror. The only "regime change" that Americans should enthusia- stically embrace is that of the Bush administration in 2004. In other news Jeb defends fringe-kook DCF appointment After the scandals rocking Florida's child-protection agency, First Brother Jeb Bush's new hand-picked appointment to head the embattled agency turned out to be a religious kook advocating brutal corporal punishment (welts and bruises are okay) for kids, among other fringe beliefs about women's "submission" to their husbands. Jeb Bush's reaction to this flap? "It's just religious bigotry." |
"Ready..fire..aim!" Part III Bush Iraqi war plans facing Republican resistance |
Florida anti-gay activist arrested for vote fraud A prominent Florida religious right activist has been arrested for forging signatures on petitions seeking antigay legislation. Are political dirty tricks that common in Florida, or is it just a Republican phenomenon? Tulia investigation still on (or is it off?) The disgraceful arrest and conviction of 10% of the predominately black town of Tulia, Texas, based on only the say-so (no other evidence of any kind) of a paid informant (subsequently proved to be a liar) is an injustice that the Ashcroft Justice Department seems in no hurry to correct. If there has ever been a case that reveals that the war on drugs is a worse problem than drugs themselves -- this is it. CBO predicts "budget horrorshow" Just as Al Gore predicted in the the 2000 presidential campaign, the Congressional Budget Office is predicting a $200 billion budget deficit in 2003. Anyone capable of simple arithmetic (this apparently excludes the Bush economic team) should not be surprised. Bush's Potemkin village PR stunt The Bush "economic forum" in Crawford was a bust. Even the usually over-credulous press observed that this was nothing but a cynical PR stunt. Bob Barr goes down On a happier note, we celebrate the defeat of one of the most despicably evil bastards in the GOP. Congressman Bob Barr (R-GA) lost a primary battle in a Democratically redrawn district that pitted him against another incumbent, albeit more moderate. Barr was defeated by a 2-1 land- slide (maybe there's hope for the Deep South after all). How long until Barr lands as a spokesman for the NRA, Sons of the Confederacy or some right-wingnut think tank is anyone's guess. |
